I was crying and frightened at the same time watching these videos.

It doesn\’t help to know that we\’re heading to Guam. An island which is part of the Ring of Fire. That is on the edge of Challenger Deep. That has numerous deep sea earthquakes. No tsunamis. But tsunamis weren\’t common in SE Asia either.

We had a strong earthquake in Guam back in 1992. It was 8.2 on the richter scale. Lasted over a minute long. It was scary. I\’m not sure what I would\’ve done if I were in those people\’s places. My first instinct would\’ve been to run, but run where?

Have I ever told you about the time I got smashed up against the side of a cliff like the one pictured on the bottom left hand corner in this one here. Actually it was that exact cliff area, but about 1/2 mile further left. I was doing a science research project for the university and we always check the tide tables to make sure we\’re out of danger before the tide comes in.

So we were happily taking our measurements and gathering our data. When all of a sudden, a wave hits us. And another one. And another. Just out of nowhere. Some of our belongings and shoes got swept away but the craggly coral had it\’s grip on us. So we stayed on the coral ledge. We had our grips on each other so we wouldn\’t get separated. We looked at each other and had nowhere else to go but up the cliff. We had to climb. The tide was coming in pretty fast and we suppose it was because there was a squall off shore somewhere and it was causing the waves to get rough. So we climbed all the way up the rock face. About 300 feet. I kid you not.

When we finally got up there, we surveyed the damage. We were bloodied and scratched up, but okay. We walked the 2 miles back to our cars that way. I can\’t believe I remember all this. Crazy huh. You see the picture? How the deep water is just right there? How freaking crazy in the head was I to do such a thing. All for the sake of a 1 credit hour.

The second tooth.

December 29, 2004

The bottom left incisor has popped through and is making Malia a bit crankier than the first one did. The teething gel and tablets helps a bit. So does the frozen washrag fresh from the freezer. But sometimes nothing eases her pain.

It took me almost 30 shots to get a good picture of the new teeth. She was either smacking the camera, laughing at me, sticking out her tongue or talking. So here is the best shot.

\"Second
You can see it the top of the right one completely but can only see a smidgen of the left one.

More and more Christmas cheer!

December 28, 2004

There are Christmas pictures up in the photo gallery.

Christmas was wonderful, terrific, great, beautiful, gorgeous… I could go on and on.

We spent the weekend at the parents house 20 minutes north of here. Jerry had the Friday, December 24th and today, Monday, December 27th off and it was soooo nice to have him around for an extended period of time. I\’m now certainly glad that they worked on some of their other holidays so that he could have these off. Woot!!

More of what we did for Christmas plus tons of pictures in the extended entry.

Merry Christmas one and all…

December 25, 2004

It\’s our baby Malia\’s first Christmas. We\’re in tears, literally. Well, at least I am.

Happy Birthday Jesus and thank you God for blessing us with this beautiful little girl.

\"Mewy

Merry Christmas everyone and we love you all.

Yeah. It\’s that time.

Time for you to email me and let me know if you\’d like to be a guest blogger on my blog while I\’m in Guam frolicking in the warm light blue ocean water and rolling in the white sand and celebrating my sister\’s wedding and meeting with my family and friends and eating tons and tons of food I crave. I pray that my body will not pop out of my matron of honor size 10 gown as I strut my stuff down the aisle. Yeah. Size 10. I\’m trying to get prepared for the hisses when I get home. \”Geez Car! You\’ve turned into a real porker! I\’m 5 sizes bigger than when I left Guam. 5 freaking sizes people! Oink oink.

Anyhow, email me or leave me a comment and make sure you register. Click on the login button over there in the sidebar. And please don\’t get angry if I don\’t approve you. Well, go ahead and get angry. I don\’t care. Just kidding. I have to protect something in my life right?!?!
