Ahhh..

January 25, 2005

- Jerry and Faithe arrived at 1am Friday morning.
- Wedding ceremony and reception went well the following day.
- Jerry, Malia, my dad and some of Frances\’s new inlaws got the Traveler\’s stomach flu. Before, during and after the wedding. It was bad. But everyone is okay now.
- Now we\’re busy
1) Getting our house in order for a new renter (which includes, painting the outside, getting 4 windows removed and have new ones put in, unbending the fence that the power people bent, fixing and or installing the 5 ton air conditioning unit on the roof and the split one that cools the master bedroom, fixing up the yard)
2) Making appointments to see friends and family
3) Eating every food that I craved when I was pregnant
- We went for a swim today in the hotel pool. My parents are at the Guam Marriott for a few days. Malia LOVED it. She tanned rather quickly which shows she has her dad\’s melanin. We let her have a bit of a dip in the ocean too. The waves, seaweed and sand made her a bit apprehensive.
- We\’re taking a ton of pictures.
- Can\’t wait to go back home. But will miss the island dearly.
- Not looking forward to the long flight home.

I miss you all! *muah*

I miss Maricar & Malia

ISO: Bottled Sunshine

January 24, 2005

Dear Maricar,

How cold does it get in Guam? I hope you are being blessed with some nice, warm weather and sunshine. I hope you\’re drinking by the beach and wearing a lei. That\’s how I\’m picturing you, even though that\’s more related to Hawaii than Guam (okay, to personalize it, I\’ll take the lei away and picture you with a brown tree snake instead).

Meanwhile, I\’m freezing my butt off. It was 18°F when I woke up this morning! BRR! Can you bottle up some of the heat and send it to me? No? Well how about a postcard then?

Silence is Golden

It\’s worth noting he didn\’t fall asleep until 10:15. Kids, I tell ya…

It\'s bedtime, damnit.

January 22, 2005

Dear Child,

You have been going strong since 7am, with a short break that you passed off as a nap. Please go to sleep. I am tired and would really like to just park my butt on the couch and veg for an hour.

Thank you for understanding.

Your mother.

It\'s one of those days…

January 19, 2005

It\’s 15 degrees out, and this is the warmest it\’s been all day. It\’s snowing. Again. No really, I love it.

It\’s really pretty, and it\’s nice to just to be able to stay inside where it\’s warm and watch it slowly cover up all the dirty-slush snow — unless you\’re my Grandpa and sick and lonely – then it\’s worth bundling up to come here just as your great-grandson is finally falling asleep.

After Kal settled down from the excitment of his Bisnonno being here, I had a baby napping in my lap (it\’s one of those days where he\’s not happy unless he\’s in my arms) and a grandpa asleep on my couch (it\’s one of those days where he\’s not happy unless he\’s got company).

It\’s so nice and quiet here, so unlike NYC.

Tiny Man, Big Ego Jonathan and Faux Blonde, Bad Attitude Victoria have been eliminated. Huzzah!

Quick summary:

- worse check-in experience of my life at the PDX airport
- paid 10% of the 2 grand ticket price for Malia to be a lap baby when they said I\’d only have to pay 20 bucks
- mean airline personnel
- cool unlimited movies and games on the plane ride
- Malia did well despite the ear-popping pain on take-off
- worse landing of my life at the Narita airport
- longest line in the universe for security to get to the next gate at Narita
- change of gate at the last minute
- nicest airline personnel
- couldn\’t sleep AT ALL on the plane while holding Malia
- trying to handle 10 pieces of hand-carry items, 5 boxes, 4 suitcases, a stroller and a 7 month old = not fun
- took awhile to get used to the time change and climate here
- just got missed by a tropical storm
- hundreds of unread email messages
- met up already with some old family and friends
- eating some mighty fine food here
- so weird that everyone drives below 40 mph here. well, that\’s the speed limit anyways.
- lots of things to do that should\’ve been done before
- missing terribly my husband and friends
- can\’t wait until he gets here *sniff*
- hoping and praying that the wedding goes well

I have to close the comments because I don\’t get internet access enough to moderate them. Sorry but miss you all very much.

Weather Woes

January 16, 2005

30 degrees one day, 45 the next. Snow one day, sunshine the next. If you\’re ever on vacation in the Pacific Northwest and you don\’t like the weater, just wait 24 hours. It\’s almost a guarantee that it will be completely different.

I\'ll invite you all :)
